Educational Outreach Programs

Members of the Venere Lute Quartet began playing together while teaching at the Lute Society of America Seminars and educational outreach is a primary mission of the ensemble. The VLQ has frequently taught courses in specialized situations such as the Lute Society of America Seminars and at the Amherst Early Music Festival. However, the Venere Lute Quartet offers a variety of stimulating workshops that bring students of all ages and disciplines into a fuller appreciation of the historical, social, and technical contexts of music making in early modern European culture. Each member of the ensemble has had extensive teaching experience, and the workshops are filled with lively music and dramatic visual elements. Programs include:

The Gigg is Up: Music in Shakespeare’s England
A Grand Tour: Renaissance Music in the Great Courts of Europe

Palestrina’s Lute: Renaissance Music at the Papal Court
